BCH Restoration Centre – Estoppel Notices, Night Shift Premium and QV accrual for Lunch Periods Worked

June 26, 2019

To: All MoveUP members at the Restoration Centre, BC Hydro

This bulletin is to advise our members working at the Restoration Centre, that during bargaining the Employer served your Union with estoppel notices, effective upon ratification of the new collective agreement.

The change to current practices will be as follows:

  • BC Hydro will no longer provide a one (1) hour shift premium to employees who are employed at the Restoration Centre and work a night shift.
  • BC Hydro will no longer permit staff at the Restoration Centre to work through their lunch period and receive 30 minutes of Quarterly Vacation (QV) bank time for working through their lunch period.

The Union was not aware of either practice, as they are not part of the collective agreement.

If Restoration Centre staff are required to work through their lunch period they will be compensated per the collective agreement.

In Solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee:

Rysa Kronebusch, Vice President – Utilities
Cheryl Popeniuk, Senior Union Representative
Barbara Junker, Lead Negotiator
Anderson Charles, Bargaining Committee Member
Calvin Jonas, Bargaining Committee Member
Bruce Sarvis, Bargaining Committee Member
