BCGEU Joint Employment Equity Committee

To: All MoveUP members at BCGEU
Early March 2020, your employer began to create their Joint Employment Equity Committee, consisting of representatives from MoveUP, UWU and the employer. As part of the terms of reference for this committee, there was a review date in December 2021 to evaluate the work of the committee over the year and a half of its existence. The evaluation was positive, and the decision made was to continue the committee.
Since conception, you have been represented by Job Stewards Tara Copeland, Gagan Gill and Cristie Estatopulos. We would like to thank them all for the work they have done over the past year and a half, and their contribution to the foundation of the committee, however they and your stewards have decided it is now a good time to pass the opportunity to hold one of the three MoveUP committee spots to the larger membership.
If you are looking for ways or interested in becoming involved in union activities, this committee would be a great opportunity to expand your activism within BCGEU and MoveUP, as you will be working towards a more equitable workplace.
Please submit your name and reason you would like to sit on the committee to your Vice President Christy Slusarenko at cslusarenko@moveuptogether.ca as an expression of interest by 4:30 p.m. on Friday March 4, 2022. Should we receive more than three applicants we will then look to hold an election to determine the final committee members.
