BCAA’s Workplace of the Future Hybrid/Remote Work Policy Grievance UPDATE

August 2, 2022

TO: All BCAA Members

We would like to update you on BCAA’s remote work policy and the grievance that was initiated in response to certain aspects of this policy.

Your union initiated a policy grievance in April as there were several items in the policy that were cause for concern. We are pleased to advise that many of the concerning elements of the policy have been addressed by a Letter of Understanding that we are close to reaching agreement on, however, a few items remain that we hope to reach agreement on, specifically:

  • That you have a say in whether you work remotely
  • That you do not suffer a loss in pay when circumstances beyond your control interrupt your ability to work remotely
  • That you do not have to cover the costs associated with working remotely
  • That your union is aware of whether you are working remotely

We appreciate the work that BCAA has done on this and believe that we can reach agreement on how working remotely works at BCAA. We understand that this is very important to many of you, and we agree that something as important as where you work deserves considered thought to ensure it works for everyone in the long run. We look forward to updating you in the near future with the finalized Letter of Understanding.

Should you have any questions or comments, please reach out to your job stewards or myself.

In solidarity,

Dora Wong, Union Representative
