BCAA-RACC- Update – Backfilling dispatch breaks

September 12, 2017

To: All Members at BCAA RACC

In addition to the 3-month trial agreement that determines how and when management can perform bargaining unit work, your union and BCAA have also reached a 3-month trial agreement in an attempt to resolve last year’s grievance that was initiated in response to how dispatch breaks are covered by others who are able to perform the work. This 3-month trial agreement was also negotiated between the parties at many meetings over many months and is designed to bring consistency to how management assigns this work.

Please read the attached Protocol Agreement and ensure that you understand how management will be backfilling dispatch when breaks are taken or when members in dispatch are away/leave early. This trial agreement is effective between September 1 to December 1, at which time the parties will be reviewing the protocol agreement and we have reserved the right to grieve this matter if the procedures outlined in the protocol agreement do not resolve the issues related to why the grievance was initiated.

If you are concerned that the terms of the protocol agreement are not being followed during the next 3 months, please advise your Job Steward or Union Representative. I want to thank Job Steward’s Carrie Michels and Darshan Andrews who assisted with reaching this agreement and the members for your support.

In solidarity,

Trevor Hansen
Union Representative
