Bargaining
BCAA RACC – Bargaining Bulletin
April 10, 2019
To: All MoveUP members at BCAA RACC
Your bargaining committee met with BCAA to continue negotiations on April 9, 2019. We wanted to return to the table to further discuss BCAA’s “last & final” monetary offer that was tabled on January 21, 2019. As we made you aware of at that time, we had advised BCAA that we would not be recommending their “last & final” offer to you. BCAA responded by stating that there was no additional money on the table, but that there was a willingness on their part to “consider creative solutions such as a different distribution of the money that is on the table.” As such, we have asked BCAA to cost their monetary proposals so that we can determine where to best allocate that money for your benefit.
We also requested more detailed financials beyond the Consolidated Financial Statement that was provided earlier to the committee. This is necessary so that we can attain a realistic understanding of BCAA’s true financial picture. As mentioned previously, BCAA has experienced tremendous growth and success over the last few years, so your bargaining committee is understandably puzzled that there is not a fair and reasonable monetary offer for you, their employees, when it came time to recognizing the hard work that you have done to make those achievements possible.
As bargaining concluded in the afternoon, we were hopeful that BCAA has finally heard the message that you deserve better. We have agreed to reconvene negotiations on May 6 & 7. Depending on the information received at that time, your committee will be responding with definitive next steps to move these negotiations forward.
If you have any questions, please speak with a member of your bargaining committee.
In solidarity,
Bargaining Committee:
Carrie Michels, Executive Councillor
Natalie Hoedel, Job Steward
Darshan Andrews, Job Steward
Trevor Hansen, Union Representative
