BC Transit – Vaccine for Front Line Workers in Victoria Regional Transit System

May 11, 2021

To: All MoveUP members at BC Transit

Your union was advised this morning that the Island Health Authority is commencing a COVID vaccine clinic for front line workers at BC Transit in the Victoria Regional Transit System.

Your employer and union have been working with the Province of BC and the Provincial Health Officer in responding to COVID-19 and supporting the vaccine rollout.

Your union has been made aware that frontline BC Transit workers who live and/or work in the Victoria Regional Transit System and are 18 and older, are now eligible to book a vaccine appointment with the access code in the attached letter from Island Health.

Frontline workers in the MoveUP bargaining unit include: Front counter reception, service people, support clerks, warehouse and parts employees, fleet inspectors and safety and training officers.

While we strongly encourage all our members to get vaccinated when their time comes, we recognize some may not be able to for health reasons.

Please refer to the two communications as attached for details on how to register if you are a front line employee.

Also, don’t forget, if you choose to get your shot outside of normal work hours you are eligible for two hours additional base pay.  Please speak to your timekeeper or people manager.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to your Union Representative, Parm Sandhar.

In Solidarity,

Parm Sandhar, Union Representative
