BC Transit – Upcoming Labour Management Meeting and Membership Meeting

To: All MoveUP members at BC Transit
1) Upcoming Labour/Management Meeting
Your committee will be meeting with management for a regularly scheduled Labour Management meeting on Thursday September 28th. If you have agenda items that you think might be suitable for the meeting please advise a job steward or email Shawn Lakusta at slakusta@moveuptogether.ca. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss general issues and questions that have arisen. Grievance meetings are held as necessary and deal with specific grievance issues.
2) Membership Meeting
Before Covid your union would hold in person membership meetings in advance of the Labour Management meeting. This would provide an opportunity for general discussion and for potential agenda items to be brought forward. Since that time we have been holding meetings virtually and of course regular meetings were replaced with meetings related to the bargaining process. Your committee has been discussing the best way to maintain an effective communication process. Although the meetings have been sparsely attended those who have attended virtually have expressed a preference for that method. While your union is comfortable with either type of meeting (and we are hoping we can logistically make hybrid meetings work at some point) it would be great if you can let us know if you have a preference. Please let a job steward or myself (slakusta@moveuptogether.ca) know if you have a preference and we will factor that into how we move forward.
In the meantime, we will have a virtual meeting on Wednesday September 27th at 6:00pm. The meeting link will be forwarded shortly. Looking forward to seeing those who can attend.
