BC Transit – Discomfort Survey

October 24, 2018

To: All MoveUP members at BC Transit

“Muscoloskeletal Injuries (MSI) are injuries or disorders of the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, nerves, blood vessels or related soft tissue including a sprain, strain and inflammation, that may be caused or aggravated by work. Symptoms include: pain, numbness, tingling, lack of strength, and muscle wasting. This is a clear OH&S issue that the employer has a legal obligation to eliminate or minimize.

In response to reports received by some of our BC Transit (BCT) members, we developed a brief, ten-minute survey to collect information that may assist us in improving the health and safety at BCT. Please click here to open the survey. We ask all BCT members to complete the survey by Monday, November 5, 2018.

By collecting relevant information, it is easier to demonstrate that there is a health and safety issue that needs to be addressed at work. The results from this survey will be sent to Niki Schnurr (MoveUP OH&S) and if results are shared with the OH&S committees, they will be kept confidential. Please contact Niki at 604-299-0378 or nschnurr@moveuptogether.ca if you have any questions or concerns about the confidentiality of the survey.

If you’re experiencing MSI and you think it may be work-related, you should report it and go to first-aid as soon as possible.

In solidarity,

Parm Sandhar,
Union Representative

Niki Schnurr,
WCB Appeals Representative & OHS Coordinator
