BC Transit – Bargaining Update #7 – March 18, 2020

March 18, 2020

To: All MoveUP members at BC Transit

Your Bargaining Committee met with the Employer for bargaining at the MoveUP office for collective bargaining from March 10-12, 2020.

We are pleased to report that your Bargaining Committee has finished signing off on all substantial language proposals. The Union tabled its monetary package to the Employer on the afternoon of March 11, 2020. The parties are still far apart on the monetary provisions after bargaining ended on Thursday March 12, 2020. The Employer has come to the table and is asking the Union to engage in concessionary bargaining in order to fund enhancements members want in benefits.

Your Bargaining Committee will be strategizing about our next steps, however in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the MoveUP office is no longer conducting any face to face meetings and we have been directed to move our meetings online and use online technology. Our bargaining dates for March 30-31st have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and we are looking to reschedule dates sometime in April. In the meantime the Bargaining Committee is potentially looking at scheduling an online webinar meeting to update the membership on the progress of bargaining. Please stay tuned for updates, and feel free to e-mail me at psandhar@moveuptogether.ca if you have any further questions.

In solidarity,

Your Bargaining Committee:

Glen Redden, Job Steward
Sal Ruffolo, Executive Councillor
Parm Sandhar, Union Representative
