BC Hydro – REMINDER: RWWL Days Must Be Scheduled. Second Deadline is July 1, 2020
May 26, 2020
To: All MoveUP Members at BC Hydro
Members must schedule their RWWL days twice a year. Any RWWL days not scheduled will be scheduled at BC Hydro’s discretion prior to the end of the current year. The second deadline is July 1, 2020 and employees must schedule the remaining RWWL days to be taken by the end of the current year. If members do not book their RWWL days per the collective agreement your manager will schedule any RWWL days that you did not schedule (except what is allowed in Article 11.01 (g) where you have the ability to bank RWWL days).
In the past members have advised that their managers do not schedule their RWWL days even though they have not scheduled them per the collective agreement. BC Hydro has advised that this will no longer be the case and that managers will be scheduling RWWL days.
Per Article 11.01 (g) RWWL days are scheduled as follows:
For employees hired after July 1, 2005:
By January 31st of each year, employees must schedule at least 9 of the RWWL days they have not elected to exchange for cash pursuant to 11.01 (a) (2). These days must be scheduled to be taken by July 31st. An employee may request to re-schedule these days to be taken after July 31st with permission from their manager and subject to operational requirements.
By July 31st of each year, employees must schedule the remaining RWWL days to be taken by the end of the current year.
Any RWWL days not scheduled by July 31st will be scheduled at BC Hydro’s discretion prior to the end of the current year.
For employees hired prior to July 1, 2005:
By January 31st of each year, employees must schedule at least 6 of the RWWL days they have not elected to exchange for cash pursuant to 11.01(a)(2).
Employees can bank up to 5 RWWL days in accordance with Article 11.01(g) 2.
The scheduling of RWWL days does not mean that you can not change your scheduled RWWL day. If you require a different RWWL day off you can request to exchange a scheduled RWWL day for a different day as long as the requested RWWL day does not conflict with essential department requirements.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact your job steward.
