BC Hydro – 2017 United Way Campaign Weekly Update

October 23, 2017

To all MoveUP members at BC Hydro:

We’ve already reached the second week of the campaign with two more weeks to go! MoveUP has been a strong supporter of the United Way for many years, and I encourage MoveUP employees to consider making a pledge by Friday, November 3, 2017. Collectively we can make a difference to our local communities.

Please watch for the next personal email link on Tuesday, October 24th. I invite you to review the different pledging options available to BC Hydro employees. Thank you to those of you who have already made a donation! Your support and event attendance are greatly appreciated by the many volunteers arranging these events for their offices.

There are still more campaign awareness events to attend, ranging from lunch n’ learns to a chili cook off. Attending an event will help you learn more about United Way services that are available throughout BC.

Check out the campaign’s Hydroweb site for a list of events near you.

Off To A Great Start….

We’ve achieved our first corporate donation of $20K!

As of October 20, 2017, the campaign has raised $181,000 towards our goal of $500,000.

MoveUP employees have given over $31K towards the goal with 95 donors so far.

The benefits of giving helps to address the areas of greatest need, you have flexible giving options and your donations will grow!

Encourage your fellow co-workers to do their part in supporting this campaign.

Communities and You

United Way works to help kids be all they can be by laying the foundation for lifelong success. Over 25,000 local kids have nowhere safe to go after school. Most youth crimes occur after school when kids are unsupervised. They are at a higher risk of getting involved in drugs or gangs. A portion of your donation dollars go towards after-school programs to assist these vulnerable kids.

Click here and read Verdann’s story of how connecting with an after-school program supported by United Way can help guide a child in need.
