BC Hydro – 2017 United Way Campaign Weekly Update
October 31, 2017
To: All MoveUP members at BC Hydro and PowerTech
The campaign has one week left and we are still going strong. We are about 67% into our $500,000 goal with many events planned for this last week such as Halloween potlucks and a paper airplane contest. Thank you to those of you who have already donated and are a campaign volunteer.
With your help we are starting the final push to reach our goal. This year BC Hydro will cover the $12 fee if you choose to designate your donation to another charity. Remember, you can donate money or time through our payroll system or make a lump sum payment. I encourage you to consider giving to this cause and attending an event to learn more about how the United Way supports your community.
Our goal is almost in sight
As of October 27th, collectively we have raised $338,000 towards our goal of $500,000. Great job! Those who have yet to pledge a gift or who have misplaced their previous links will receive a final reminder email October 31st around 10am.
If you are thinking about giving remember:
- Giving is easy and only takes a few clicks.
- Payroll donations show up directly on your T4, so no worrying about tracking receipts.
- Just $5 a pay period can provide 10 hot, nutritious meals and food education to four seniors.
As a group, MoveUP employees have given over $57K with a participation rate of just under 15%.
Communities and You
What can your donations do for our local seniors? This is a question people may ask and United Way has an answer. Meet Angie. She is a local senior who, despite everything in life, came across a United Way supported program to help keep seniors like her active and engaged. Click here to read Angie’s story.
Around You
There are still some events remaining in the campaign near you. Check out Hydroweb for an updated list.
