Amadeus Music Academy – Closure Announcement **CORRECTION**

To All MoveUP Members at Amadeus Music Academy
** The previous bulletin incorrectly listed the closure date and has been corrected **
It has come to our attention that, yesterday, the CEO of Amadeus Music Academy provided MoveUP members with notice of the closure of the Amadeus Music Academy as of June 30, 2020. The employer initially gave us notice of the potential closure and sought to initiate a discussion regarding an adjustment plan under Section 54 of the B.C. Labour Relations Code. The Parties are required to discuss all measures, policies, practices, and changes that affects the security of employment of a significant number of employees of an Employer in advance of the implementation of these measures.
We requested disclosure of all relevant financial documentation from Amadeus to ensure that there is no alternatives to the closure of Amadeus Music Academy, and to ensure that your rights are protected throughout the process. We have not yet received any of the requested documentation, but we recognize that procuring and providing the requested documentation may be delayed due to the COVID19 pandemic. We will keep you informed throughout the process, including when we receive the requested documentation and when we intend to meet with the Employer to discuss the adjustment plan.
We will be holding a membership meeting remotely to discuss any questions, concerns or inquiries that you may have throughout this process. The call-in information will be in a follow up bulletin.
We are saddened to hear of the closure of the Amadeus Music Academy as a result of complications and drops in lesson enrollments due to the COVID19 pandemic, but we endeavour to support you throughout this process.
