Alma Mater Society – Tentative Agreement Reached

To: All MoveUP Members at Alma Mater Society

Your Union met with the employer and their Lawyer yesterday at the BC Labour Relations Board. I am happy to announce that your collective agreement has been signed by the parties and the Union withdrew its Unfair Labour Practice filed against AMS. 

After seventeen months of bargaining, your Bargaining Committee is pleased to recommend you accept the tentative agreement attached here for the employees at Alma Mater Society.

The highlights of the agreement are as follows:

  • A 5-year contract that secures substantial wage increases retroactive to June 01, 2016
  • Improved language for Severance and Accrual payouts.
  • Parity with Employment Standards Act
  • Gender Neutral language
  • No change to the Food Promo Proposal
  • No Concessions 

We will be holding a meeting in the New Year to review the tentative agreement with you and answer any questions. This will also be your opportunity to vote on the tentative agreement. The vote will be conducted by secret ballot.

The meeting details and dates to be announced after the employer returns, January 15th, 2018.  

When a date has been selected, please make every effort to attend.
