10 Days Paid Leave for Workers Experiencing Domestic or Sexual Violence

September 19, 2019

To: All MoveUP Members

Dear MoveUP Members,

The BC Federation of Labour (BCFED) has launched an online campaign to demand 10 days of paid leave for workers experiencing domestic or sexual violence.

British Columbia is one of the only provinces that does not provide this kind of paid leave. The provincial government is currently holding public consultations on this issue and it is critical that we make our voices heard on this matter and send a strong message to government.

We ask all our members to visit www.workersdeservebetter.ca where you can join the campaign, and email your MLA and government directly to demand 10 days of paid leave.

Please also share it with your family and friends and get them to support this campaign. Workers should not be punished for seeking the support and resources they need when facing violence. We need to stand together because workers deserve better!

Thank you for doing your part for this important cause.

In solidarity,

Christy Slusarenko
Chair, Women’s Rights Committee
