ICBC – Head Office Move

To: All MoveUP members at ICBC Head Office in Corporate Disbursements, Customer Accounting, Treasury Operations, Claims, Claims Contact Centre, Insurance Contact Centre, and Account Services positions
We would like to provide clarification regarding yesterday’s bulletin on the ICBC Head Office move. ICBC has not announced all the office moves indicated. The Employer is currently preparing additional information which will be communicated to all affected employees by June 8th. Moves to new locations will not occur earlier than September 2026. Please remain attentive to forthcoming updates, and reach out to your manager after June 8th, should you have remaining questions.
ICBC has recently announced upcoming office moves for some members currently working at Head Office. Your Union wants to make sure you are aware of rights and entitlements as outlined in the Collective Agreement.

ICBC has advised members in the Contact Centres will have the choice of which location they move to, with the limitation that the options are capacity dependent. Other members will be following their teams.

We have been advised that the moves to these new locations will take place by September 2026 and are currently forecasted to occur in mid-August.
Article 20 of the Collective Agreement entitles members to moving expenses, provided certain conditions are met. Firstly, your new headquarters must be more than 20 km away from your current one. Therefore, only members moving to Guildford Corporate Centre or the Gateway Office would be eligible. All other locations are within 20 km. Additionally; all the following conditions must be met:
- You must be moving from, and to, a full time regular position.
- You must incur a change in residence.
- Your new headquarters must be further from your current home than was the previous headquarters.
- Your new headquarters must be more than eighty (80) road kilometres away from your current home.
- Your new home must be closer to your new headquarters than your old home is.
- You must initiate your move to the new residence within three (3) months of moving to your new headquarters.
- You must submit your claim for all moving expenses, including supporting documentation, within twelve (12) months of moving to your new headquarters.
We do not anticipate moving expense eligibility will apply to many, if any, of the affected members. If it does apply to you, please refer to Article 20.09 of the Collective Agreement for eligible expenses, which include moving, home disposal, and travelling.
If you have not yet been notified of which office you will be relocating to, or when, please speak to your manager.
Members are encouraged to review information provided by your employer regarding the options available for parking and public transit at the locations offered, to plan ahead for changes to your commute when in office, and consider family or childcare obligations that may also be affected.
