UTILITIES- NOTICE OF BY-ELECTIONS – EXECUTIVE COUNCIL VACANT POSITIONS
May 7, 2026
To: All MoveUP Utilities members
With our general executive councillor elections completed, we are now looking to fill the remaining vacant spots through by-elections.
The list of open positions is listed at the bottom of this email. If you work in one of electoral areas listed below and are interested in becoming an executive councillor, we encourage you to apply.
As an executive councillor in your workplace, you are the spokesperson for your union. You are a vital link between the membership and the elected leadership. You, along with other job stewards, speak for your fellow members in the day-to-day relations between our union and management. In addition, you attend five executive council meetings a year where you can participate in the direction and decision making of your union. You can find more detailed information on your role in the Executive Councillor Handbook which is available on the resources page for stewards and councillors of our website.
An instruction and nomination form are attached HERE.
To run for an executive councillor position, be a nominator for a candidate, or to vote for a candidate, you must be a member in good standing. In general, to be in good standing means that your union dues are up to date. Most members are up to date as your union dues are paid directly by your employer, but if you have taken a recent leave of absence (e.g. maternity, parental, long-term disability, etc.) then your dues may not have been covered during the time you were away. To check if you are in good standing, log on to your Member Portal account.
