On behalf of MoveUP’s Human Rights and Cultural Diversity Committee, we want to wish our members who will observe Lunar New Year 恭喜發財 (Gung Hay Fat Choi), which means “wishing you happiness and prosperity”!
Lunar New Year celebrations begin on February 17 this year and last for 15 days. 2026 marks the Year of the Horse. The Year of the Horse gallops in with vibrant and fiery energy, symbolizing adventure, vitality, and momentum, bringing a year focused on bold moves and exploration. Lunar New Year celebrations are a time to enjoy your favourite food, have fun with family, and receive red pockets for good luck!
MoveUP is happy to announce that this year we’ll be co-hosting a Lunar New Year event with Anxin Community Savings! MoveUP is proud to be the union for Anxin staff, who have worked hard to establish the branch in the Richmond community. Swing by with your friends and family to meet MoveUP Secretary-Treasurer Brenda Chu, Vice-President Christy Slusarenko, and spend time with fellow MoveUP members to help celebrate the new year!

Activities: Photo booth, spinning prize wheel, tea and treats!
Time: 1 P.M. to 4 P.M
