Lu’Ma Native Housing Society – Bargaining Update # 4

December 12, 2025

To: All MoveUP Members at Lu'Ma Native Housing Society

Your bargaining committee and employer have continued to meet regularly through late November, with our most recent bargaining session taking place yesterday, December 11, 2025, as part of this round of collective bargaining.

Throughout this round, the Union undertook the significant task of reviewing and working through the entire Collective Agreement. This included responding to and addressing over 80 proposals brought forward by the employer, while also advancing Union proposals across all main articles. This comprehensive review was approached with the goal of ensuring the Collective Agreement reflects the evolving nature of the work, the inclusion of new classifications, and trying to address the needs of members across the entire bargaining unit.

As previously reported, the parties spent considerable time on non-monetary items which are provisions that do not involve direct financial compensation but are critical to working conditions, rights, and protections in the workplace. We are pleased to report that the parties are now very close to the conclusion of bargaining, with the majority of non-monetary items addressed and substantial progress achieved.

With this work largely complete, the focus of bargaining has now shifted to wages and other monetary items. These discussions are central to securing fair and competitive compensation that recognizes the important work performed by our members at Lu’ma.

The bargaining committee and the employer are scheduled to meet again early next week to continue these discussions and work toward finalizing an agreement.

We would like to sincerely thank members for their patience and continued support throughout this intensive bargaining process. Your solidarity allows the bargaining committee to remain focused on achieving a strong and fair collective agreement.

If you have any questions, please see your bargaining committee members Colin Sanderson, Florence Trickett, and Piyush Jain, or contact Georgi Bates, Union Representative, at gbates@moveuptogether.ca or 604-842-4902.

Further updates will be shared following our upcoming bargaining dates.

In solidarity,

Your bargaining committee,

Colin Sanderson, Executive Councillor
Florence Trickett, Job Steward
Piyush Jain, Executive Councillor
Georgi Bates, Union Representative
