Send a letter to the BC government calling on fair wages for public sector workers

I’m reaching out today because we need our MoveUP members to send a letter to the BC government telling them to bargain a fair contract for public sector workers.
Today marks one week since members of the BCGEU and PEA who work in the public sector went on strike. Yesterday, I had the privilege of standing shoulder to shoulder with their workers to tell them that our MoveUP members stand unequivocally with them in their fight for a fair wage package for public sector employees.

Make no mistake. BC’s public services need immediate attention. And public service workers, like many workers in BC, are facing an affordability crisis. We need our government to invest in our public services, which means investing in the people who make our public services run.
If the government fails to offer a fair wage package for public sector employees, then our members working in the public sector at ICBC, BC Hydro, BC Transit and Capilano University may need to follow the BCGEU and PEA members onto the picket line because their fight is our fight too.
Thankfully, we are not yet at that stage. Together, our members, no matter where you work, can speak up now. Tell the BC government, no matter where you work or live, you support a fair wage for public sector workers.
If our province doesn’t invest in their workers now, this province will be spending a lot more money down the road; whether it’s impacts to critical services, more workers sick or injured on the job, or backlogs and delays as workers leave the public service.
