BCRCC/CRC Bargaining Update and Updated Certification

May 16, 2025

To: All MoveUP members at BCRCC/CRC

Bargaining Update

As we discussed at our membership meeting held this week on May 13, 2025, your bargaining committee sincerely appreciates your support and solidarity in unanimously rejecting the employer final offer package per Section 78 of the Labour Relations Code.

At the membership meeting, we discussed the prospect of requesting Labour Relations Board (LRB) mediation to support us in reaching an agreement to renew the 2021-2024 collective agreement.

The union asked the LRB about mediation and LRB Mediator Tracey Wood provided her availability to the union and the employer. The only date we can confirm is Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

While we were hoping for more dates, we look forward to having the mediator assist us in negotiating a fair and reasonable renewal of your collective agreement that we can bring back to you to recommend for ratification.

Updated Certification

As you are likely aware, the BCRCC has been restructured/replaced by the Carpenters’ Regional Council (CRC).

Due to this change, the union made a Section 142 application to the LRB to update the employer’s name and to add the address of the Nanaimo office at 169 Comox Road to the bargaining certificate.

That application was approved this week.

Once we complete collective bargaining, all references to the BCRCC in the collective agreement shall be replaced by the CRC.

Please stay tuned for further bargaining developments as they occur.

In solidarity,

Daniel Storms
Union Representative
