Virtual Meeting Notice: Discussing Tariff Threats

Dear Members,
You are invited to a very important virtual membership meeting on Tuesday, February 25 to discuss US President Donald Trump’s threat to enact tariffs on Canadian imports.
The meeting will be hosted online through Zoom from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Please click here to register, a link to the meeting will be sent to the email address provided.
If a new tariff is put in place, it will hurt working people and families on both sides of the border. We fear our members who work at Tree Island Industries, Kruger Products, Catalyst Paper, Xylem, Schneider Electric, TST-CF Express, Southern Rail, and Seaspan, including Victoria Shipyards and Vancouver Shipyards, will be among the first to feel the impact.
We need to hear from you. We’re here to listen to your concerns about possible work slowdowns or stoppages, staffing, workload, layoff threats, economic stability, trade, or any other potential issues you want to discuss. We also want to learn how we can best support you and your co-workers if your workplace does become affected by tariffs.
The meeting will be on Zoom with translation for both French and English available.
Our top priority is ensuring that our members are protected during this time of great uncertainty. We will be monitoring the impact of these tariffs very closely, working alongside our national union and our partners in the labour movement, speaking directly to your employers, along with provincial and federal governments.
