Have your say in the BC NDP leadership race

July 20, 2022

To: MoveUP Members in BC

In late June, BC Premier John Horgan announced he would not be running in the next provincial election and intended to step down in his role as BC NDP leader. Members of the BC NDP will soon select the next leader of the BC NDP, and the next Premier of British Columbia.

MoveUP, like many other unions, is affiliated with the BC NDP and is an active participant within this political party, and hundreds of our members are actively involved with the BC NDP. The roots of the BC NDP come directly from the labour movement, and it is the only party that speaks for working people like all of us.

It is important for our members, whether you are in the public or private sector, to take part in choosing the next leader of the BC NDP. This bulletin will provide information on how to participate in the election of the next BC NDP leader.

Who is eligible to vote in this leadership race?

To be eligible to vote, you must be a BC NDP member in good standing. If you are not a BC NDP member, you will need to sign up by the deadline of September 4 to be able to vote.

To sign up as a member, visit bcndp.ca/join.

Who is eligible to be a BC NDP member?

If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who lives in British Columbia, and you are at least 12 years of age, you can become a member of the party.

I have donated to the BC NDP in the past. Am I automatically a member?

When will BC NDP Party members receive information on how to vote?
