BCH – Expression of Interest: Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
To: All MoveUP members at BCH (Dunsmuir and Hamilton locations)
Your Occupational Health & Safety Committee needs you; they need 2 members to join the committee and help ensure your health and safety is protected. The committee members serve alongside employer representatives and work to ensure that any health and safety related concerns in the workplace are addressed.
Now more than ever we need to ensure union representation is at the OH&S table!
The committee will be responsible for meeting monthly to identify and make recommendations that correct unsafe and unhealthy work environments. Per the Workers Compensation Act, time spent on approved committee activities and meetings shall be without loss of pay.
The Workers Compensation Act entitles committee members to eight (8) hours of educational leave each year paid for by the employer. In addition, as a trained OH&S representative, you would conduct worksite inspections and participate in any investigations or inquiries at the workplace.
