To: All Job Stewards at BCGEU
Hi all,
We are attaching a list of the folks who have sent in their expression of interests to join committees from the bulletin we sent out a couple weeks ago. As you can see there are a few of the committees with more volunteers than seats, and a few seats on others are still empty.
We thought it would be best to bring the list forward to you all for decision on how to proceed next, do we want to hold an election for the larger membership to decide? or do we want to talk to the members to see if they are able to decide on their own? You all are the experts in your workplace, as well know the members looking to volunteer, so we are happy to have your input and suggestions.
As you can also see we have some holes, while the expression of interest provided some new folks to step up, we feel that the Early Intervention Program should consist of stewards just based on the confidential information that may arise while supporting our members. Please do consider joining this committee as we will need strong advocates for the members that may see themselves on this plan.
We know that you are all extremely busy right now, and we appreciate the extras you all do on behalf of the BCGEU membership and your union.
