FortisBC – CSC (Prince George) Occupational Health & Safety Committee Alternate Required
January 19, 2022
To: All MoveUP members at FBC-CSC in Prince George
MoveUP is looking to fill two alternate positions with your Occupational Health & Safety Committee. The committee members serve alongside employer representatives and work to ensure that any health and safety related concerns in the workplace are addressed.
Now, more than ever, we need to ensure union representation is at the OH&S table.
The committee will be responsible for meeting monthly to identify and make recommendations that correct unsafe and unhealthy work environments. In accordance with the Workers Compensation Act, Division 4, Joint Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) meetings will take place every month to identify and make recommendations that correct unsafe and unhealthy work environments. You will conduct worksite inspections and participate in any investigations or inquiries of the workplace. Per the Workers Compensation Act, time spent on approved committee activities and meetings shall be without loss of pay.
The Workers Compensation Act entitles committee members to eight hours of educational leave each year paid for by the employer. As a trained OH&S representative, you will conduct worksite inspections and participate in any investigations or inquiries at the workplace, as well as represent the union at the joint committee level.
