Bulletin
Revision: Avis Budget Merger Completed
December 20, 2021
To: All MoveUP Members at AVIS
Please note that the bulletin sent out on December 17, 2021, contained the incorrect link for the Avis/MoveUP memorandum of agreement and we have now provided the correct one.
Please be advised that your union committee has now completed negotiations with the employer for the transition of former Budget employees into the Avis/MoveUP collective bargaining agreement, (CBA). The memorandum of agreement can be found here.
We are of course pleased to have this process completed. The BC Labour Relations Board determined that the process of merging these members into the Avis/MoveUP CBA could have been delayed until the expiry of the CBA on May 31, 2022. However, by agreeing to December 31, 2021, as the completion date of the merger, we are pleased that the former Budget employees will have the benefit of working under the provisions of the superior Avis/MoveUP CBA sooner than as directed by the Board.
Your union would like to thank all the job stewards who participated in the merger discussions. It was of course extremely valuable to have input from job stewards from both Avis and Budget. The level of cooperation bodes well for the continued integration of the bargaining units. The integration discussions began early in the year and were at times challenging as further direction to the parties was required by the BC Labour Relations Board. As mentioned, we appreciate the patience and diligence shown by the job stewards to see the process through to conclusion.
We look forward to continued opportunities to welcome the former Budget employees into the MoveUP family.
