Bulletin
BCH & Powertech – Retirement of Barbara Junker/Change of Representative Assignments
April 28, 2021
To: All MoveUP members at BCH & Powertech
We write this bulletin with mixed emotions as we report to the BC Hydro and Powertech membership that Barbara Junker has scheduled a date and will be retiring. Her last day will be May 14, 2021. We are happy that she can now spend quality time with her family, but sad that we are losing a great advocate for the membership and invaluable historian to the labour relations history at BC Hydro and Powertech. Barbara’s extensive knowledge of the collective agreement, reasonableness in dealing with difficult situations and strong commitment to fairness in the workplace will be greatly missed by all. We are lucky that we have had the opportunity to work with Barbara, and that she has shared her vast experience with the team. We wish her all the best in her new endeavors and wish her the best of health and happiness for the future.
In our March 31, 2021 bulletin, we welcomed Alina Teymory back to BC Hydro with the assignment of all BC Hydro Surrey locations. In addition, she will now cover Barbara’s portfolio which includes Powertech and Kamloops and will also be assigned as the primary union representative for BC Hydro representing all Vernon locations including the Vernon Call Centre. This reassignment will better align our union representatives to continue to represent our members at BC Hydro and Powertech. Tony Geluch (tgeluch@moveuptogether.ca) , Mike Novak (mnovak@moveuptogether.ca) and April Young (ayoung@moveuptogether.ca) will retain all of their other assignments with the exception of the Surrey and Vernon locations.
Our job stewards remain our members’ first point of contact when discussing workplace issues. If any member has a question or a concern about a workplace issue, please contact your job steward. The union representatives are there to support our job stewards, and more complex issues will be escalated if need be. Union Representative Alina Teymory can be reached at the union office at 604-299-0378, toll free at 1-800-665-6838 or via email at ateymory@moveuptogether.ca.
In solidarity,
Cheryl Popeniuk, Senior Union Representative
