Job Steward Webinar – Stewarding in an Online World: July 15, 2020 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

To: All MoveUP Job Stewards, Executive Councillors and Executive Board Members
The effects of COVID-19 have been felt in every sector, workplace, and job within our union. We have watched some workplaces lay off most, if not all, of their staff. We have helped facilitate the mad rush to get staff working from home. And we have worked to deal with employers who have shut down certain aspects of their business. At the same time, we have witnessed schools and childcare facilities close, and people with compromised immunity either personally or in their immediate family require accommodations at their work.
As stewards, you have been there through all of this. You have supported your co-workers, helped them when they felt completely helpless, tracked down resources for them, and made sure that their concerns were addressed by your employer. You are the true heroes at MoveUP, and we thank you for all your hard work, and kind consideration for your colleagues.
We know that you have learned a great deal about how to steward online and that is why on July 15, 2020, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. we will be hosting an interactive job steward webinar on how to be an effective steward in this new online world of COVID-19.
This webinar will be an opportunity for stewards to share their stories, tips and tricks, and traps about stewarding online. Registration will be limited so please sign up now to reserve your spot. Register by clicking here.
We are looking for a few stewards who will share their stories – successful and even less-than-successful – which can be used as learning opportunities for your fellow stewards. Please email Nathan Beausoleil at nbeausoleil@moveuptogether.ca if you have a story to share. Nathan will touch base with you and may have you be a featured presenter during the discussion or share your story, whichever you prefer. We want this webinar to be driven by the experiences of the stewards. Please share your thoughts with Nathan so we can make this webinar a success!
