VantageOne Credit Union – Bargaining Update #2
April 21, 2020
To: MoveUP Members at VantageOne Credit Union
Your MoveUP bargaining committee has met with the employer for 12 days in total, the most recent dates were:
- February 25, to 27, 2020
- March 2 to 4, 2020
- March 11 to 13, 2020
Throughout bargaining, the union’s objective is to try to get as many improvements to the language in the collective agreement as we can, based on what the members have identified as their priorities.
During these sessions we have signed off many proposals that will improve the overall collective agreement language and have since moved on to the monetary items.
Your union put forward a very comprehensive monetary package which the employer reviewed and attached costs to. Unfortunately, VantageOne came back to the union with a response which was far inferior to our proposal.
In light of the current situation with COVID-19, the parties will be scheduling another round of dates to bargain virtually. Should the Parties not be able to reach an agreement after the next set of dates, mediation may be appropriate.
As I’m sure you can all imagine, with the pandemic, the Labour Relations Board is experiencing a delay for any non-essential hearings and while we will apply for mediation if necessary, it may take some time before we’re able to participate in mediation.
If you have any questions, please reach out to one of your bargaining committee members or email me at ygarie@moveuptogether.ca.
Stay safe.
In solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee:
Erik G., Executive Councillor
Nadine Burton, Job Steward
Scott Wilcox, Union Representative
