CMBC – TransLink Funding Concerns
April 16, 2020
To: All MoveUP members at Coast Mountain Bus
Since MoveUP learned mid-day on Easter Monday of the funding crisis facing TransLink due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, your Union has been tirelessly advocating for you at every level of government. Each member at CMBC provides highly valuable services supporting front line workers and the general public. Your Union’s leadership is pressing hard to seek continued funding and to ensure that MoveUP members do not bear the brunt of the current funding shortfalls.
MoveUP is in daily discussions with your employer and is determined to preserve the rights we have worked hard to negotiate in the collective agreement. Your Union will look at every opportunity to minimize the financial impact on our membership. These discussions will ensure that any action taken by the employer will be in consultation with your Union. This unprecedented time can create a lot of anxiety. Please be mindful that a lot of work is happening behind the scenes in discussions with the employer, government, and allies.
Your help is needed in advocating with us to government. Please consider writing an e-mail or letter to your local MP and MLA and inform them about the importance of CMBC and public transit in the lower mainland. We hope to have more specific actions members can take in the coming days and will keep you advised as the situation develops.
MoveUP thanks you for all your hard work and dedication to ensure services continue to be provided to the public. Your Union will be reminding all stakeholders of these efforts.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Union Representative Parm Sandhar or VP Christy Slusarenko.
In solidarity,
Parm Sandhar, Union Representative
Christy Slusarenko, Vice-President of Combined Units
