Coast Mountain Bus – Bargaining – Casual Employee Survey – January 13, 2020
January 13, 2020
To: All Members Employed at Coast Mountain Bus Company
In the last round of bargaining (November 19-November 21, 2019) the Employer advised your bargaining committee that they have discussed the issue about casual employee availability in previous rounds of bargaining. The Employer stated each time the parties spoke about this issue, the union informed the employer that it was not amendable to making changes to the current language in the collective agreement. Hence, there is some resistance from the employer to change the language in the collective agreement with respect to casual employees and their availability.
As preparation for further discussions your bargaining committee would like to hear from our members on this topic. With your help, we intend to identify if the membership wants our casual members to have some of the protections our regular members have in the collective agreement. As a committee, we can speculate on what is driving this phenomenon, but we want to hear directly from you and your co-workers.
Please take 5 minutes and complete this Casual Employee Survey to help us. The survey will be open from January 13-20, 2020.
We are scheduled to return to the bargaining table January 14, 16 &17. 2020.
In Solidarity,
Bargaining Committee:
