BC Hydro & Powertech – Attendance Support Program

To: All MoveUP members at BC Hydro and Powertech


As some of you may be aware, your employer will soon be rolling out the Attendance Support Program.

This roll out occurred in stages beginning with the CCBO group in the first phrase, followed by the Field Safety Services and Supply Chain (Materials Management, Procurement and Fleet Management) in the second phase. If you have any questions about the roll out of the program in your specific department, please contact your manager or email the employer at attendancesupport@bchydro.com.

This program is intended to address what the employer deems as “above average absenteeism over a rolling 12-month period.”

If you are being referred to this program, your manager will first invite you to attend a meeting to discuss your attendance. Although they have indicated the meeting is informal and non-disciplinary, it is within your right to have a job steward present at this meeting.

We highly recommend you request to have a job steward attend this meeting with you. This will provide you with additional support during the meeting to ensure what is discussed is within the acceptable boundaries of the meeting, but also allows us to keep a record of what is discussed and provides us with important information should we need to support you in this matter in the future.
