Bargaining
Bargaining Update
February 21, 2019
To: All MoveUP members at Cascades Langley
Your bargaining committee met with the employer for three days of intense but productive bargaining on February 12, 19 & 20. We have agreed to language for most articles of what will become your first collective agreement, however, some of the items that you indicated were most important to you we have been unable to reach agreement on with Gateway, including the following:
– Meaningful hours of work and scheduling language
– Meaningful contracting out/job security language
– Fair and reasonable wage increases
– Fair and reasonable severance provisions
– Picket line protection
Your bargaining committee remains hopeful that an agreement can be reached regarding the above but also knows how important these items are to everyone and is not going to negotiate or recommend an agreement that compromises on the mandate you provided. We have agreed to meet with the employer again on March 5th to resume negotiations. We will communicate further with you following that meeting.
If you have any questions, please contact you bargaining committee.
In solidarity,
Your Bargaining Committee:
Kris Locsin, Job Steward
Trevor Hansen, Union Representative
