MoveUP endorses Laird Cronk and Sussanne Skidmore in upcoming BCFED elections

MoveUP is proud to endorse Laird Cronk and Sussanne Skidmore for the positions of President and Secretary-Treasurer, respectively, with the BC Federation of Labour (BCFED).

Laird, a Red Seal electrician by trade, is presently a Vice-President with the BCFED. His experiences in the labour movement includes working with BC Building Trades Council, the BC Ministry of Labour, as well as with the Director of Employment Standards for the Skills Development and Fair Wage Act. He is presently an international rep with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers’ (IBEW) and chair of the BCFED’s Apprenticeship and Skills Training Working Group.

Sussanne has been the Executive Vice-President of the B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) since 2014 – an organization that represents over 67,000 individuals. She has sat on both the provincial public service bargaining and component bargaining committees, as well as served as a member of the Equity and Human Rights Committee, and the BCGEU’s Women’s Committee.

It is with great pleasure that the MoveUP Executive Board endorses both Laird Cronk for President and Sussanne Skidmore for Secretary-Treasurer for the BC Federation of Labour.

Laird Cronk has experience as the Vancouver Island representative for the BC Building Trades Council, prior to working for the BC Ministry of Labour as an Employment Standards Officer and Policy Advisor to the Director of Employment Standards for the Skills Development and Fair Wage Act.

Sussanne has been the Executive Vice-President of the B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU), which represents 67,000 working women and men. She has sat on both the provincial public service bargaining and component bargaining committees, and has served as a member of the Equity and Human Rights Committee and the BCGEU Women’s Committee.

The BCFED will hold its leadership elections at its Convention in late November. Current BCFED President Irene Lanzinger and Secretary-Treasurer Aaron Ekman have indicated they will not be running for re-election.
