ICBC – Injury Adjuster Pilot Project Grievance Win!
September 17, 2018
To: All ICBC MoveUP members
Almost one year ago, ICBC decided to launch a pilot project that had Injury Adjusters (IA) retain and handle represented claims. This work was and is the purview of Senior Injury Adjusters (SIA) and is clearly stated in the SIA Job Description and Job Evaluation sheet. On September 21, 2017, MoveUP filed a grievance stating that as per Article 11.14, this work is from a higher classification (specifically the SIA) and therefore any Injury Adjuster in the pilot project currently paid at salary group 10 (SG10) should receive acting pay.
On Friday, September 14, 2018, ICBC agreed with our interpretation of the collective agreement and they have agreed to settle. This win means they will pay all SG10 Injury Adjusters who were part of this pilot project acting pay (5% premium) for the time of the pilot project! Please note that any IAs that are grand parented at SG11 will not receive this acting pay, as they are already receiving the equivalent compensation as SIAs.
We anticipate the employer will make good on their commitments and have this payment to the affected members as soon as possible.
I would like to thank all of the affected members for their patience during the grievance process. As well, my thanks to the Job Stewards who raised this issue at the outset and the numerous Union Representatives who continued to press for a satisfactory resolution with this policy grievance.
In solidarity
