KNHS – Bargaining Bulletin #10 – Update on Negotiation Delay
February 28, 2018
To: All MoveUP members at Kekinow Native Housing Society
Since we last met with your employer in December we have sent numerous requests to them to contact us or the mediator, Christina Bains at the BC Labour Relations Board, to provide us with future bargaining dates. Other than providing us with an updated employee list in January we have not received any responses at all regarding their availability (or unavailability) to meet.
This round of bargaining has been difficult, to say the least, as Kekinow continues to ignore the process. This is no different than their continued lack of response to any inquiries or grievances filed by your Union. The few times that we have been able to meet at the bargaining table they have not shown us a willingness to bargain in good faith. The Union has been transparent and open in our attempts to conclude bargaining and achieve a fair and equitable collective agreement. Your Employer has not.
We will continue to put pressure on Kekinow Native Housing Society to return to the table to complete negotiations. In the meantime, it is imperative that we meet with the membership and gain a better perspective of the position we will take going forward.
We have scheduled a meeting and encourage you to attend. Pizza will be provided.
