MoveUP Endorses KYOTOplus

MoveUP joins thousands of concerned organizations and individual Canadians united under the KYOTOplus banner to end the federal political games which threaten the future of Canadians and the planet. The MoveUP convention passed a motion of endorsement at our October 29, 2009 Executive Board meeting and urges all members to sign the KYOTOplus petition.

This December Canada will gather with over 190 other countries in Copenhagen, Denmark to forge the next United Nations climate change agreement. Decisions made in Copenhagen will have profound environmental and economic consequences.

Some governments are responding with bold, decisive action to dramatically reduce their national levels of greenhouse gas emissions while creating new businesses. But Canada is one of the world’s top ten greenhouse gas polluters, and we are dead last among G8 nations on climate change action.

With your help, KYOTOplus will ensure Canada:
1.    Votes in favour of extending and strengthening the Kyoto Protocol this December, 2009, at a special United Nations meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark;
2.    Replaces its current inadequate policy approach with a credible, urgent plan that brings down Canada’s greenhouse gas pollution fast.
