2024 Vice-President election: Combined Units

The vice-president from the Combined Units will be elected by the delegates belonging to that constituency at the 2024 MoveUP Convention on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Online voting takes place on the Member Portal beginning at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

Christy Slusarenko

Christy SlusarenkoChristy Slusarenko, a 20-year MoveUP member, is a dedicated union activist and proven leader. Her work as an ECCE at Capilano University’s Children’s Center fuels her passion for advancing workers’ rights, particularly for marginalized workers and the right for all workers to earn a living wage.

As Vice President of Combined Units for the past six years, Christy has shown unwavering commitment to our members, social justice, and EDI initiatives. In her national Vice President role with COPE/SEPB, she’s promoting progressive activism globally, notably through IndustriAll’s Gender Equity Taskforce.

Christy’s values are deeply rooted in unionism, she stands for true solidarity and fights to improve the fundamental rights of workers. Her leadership is built on proven experience, collaboration and a commitment to making a difference.

Over 18 years of union involvement, including as a job steward, executive councillor, and executive board member, I’ve gained a deep understanding of members’ needs and challenges, enhancing my skills and dedication.

As Vice President of Combined Units, I aim to enhance transparency, communication, and effective bargaining strategies by fostering a collaborative environment, advocating for members’ needs, and ensuring a strong union.

Thank you for considering my candidacy. I am committed to tirelessly advocating on your behalf, and I am excited about the prospect of serving as your vice president. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient union and achieve the positive changes we all seek.

Voting instructions for Convention delegates

The election will conducted on the MoveUP Member Portal. Please be sure you can log in to the Member Portal before arriving at Convention. If you require assistance during Convention, bring your MoveUP member ID with you. If you do not have your membership ID reach out, please fill out the form at moveuptogether.ca/membernumber prior to Convention.

A laptop will be available at the MoveUP Convention registration area to cast your vote for your vice-president should you require it.

The election results will be announced shortly after balloting closes.
