VOCU Bargaining Update 7- Strike Vote Meeting Postponed

Due to the updated recommendations imposed on Saturday from Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, your union has determined that, for the safety of our staff and our members, the strike vote meeting scheduled for 6:00pm today will be postponed.

Rather than delay the strike vote and meeting until the recommendations are eased, we will be proceeding with a virtual meeting and conducting an electronic strike vote.

As soon as we are able to confirm the date and time of the meeting and voting, we will send out an updated Notice of Poll.

Until then, in order to vote electronically, each member will need to sign up for our Member Portal. For those of you who are not familiar with our member portal or if you’ve registered but cannot remember your information, instructions are below.

The MoveUP Member Portal enables you to access the information you need from your union.

The Member Portal, which is securely protected by unique individual passwords, allows you to:

• Verify the contact information we have on file for you and update your information
• Check on the status of any active personal grievances
• Check on the status of any workplace-wide grievances (also known as policy grievances)
• Find sensitive communication pieces or tools that should not be shared on the public website
• Vote in electronic elections on occasion

How to access the Member Portal

To access the Member Portal, you will need your Member ID and email address to authenticate your first time registration. This Member ID number is printed on your member card and would have been sent to you when you became a MoveUP member.

See below for a sample of the card. Your member number is in the middle section.

If you have lost or misplaced your member card, please call or email your Executive Councillor, Erik G., who can provide you with your number after verifying your identity.

First-time users

To access the Member Portal, click on the link that appears at the top right corner of the website.

Click on the red “Sign Up Now” button that appears under the words “First Time Here?”

Fill out all the fields, starting with Member ID.

Choose a username and password. When choosing a username, consider something easy for you to remember such as your email address.

If the information you entered matches the information that MoveUP has on file for you, you will be registered.

Once you have filled out and submitted your information, you should now be in the Member Portal. On the left-hand side, you will see your information, which you can change or update at any time.

Returning Users

To login after you have already registered, simply follow the Member Portal link and enter the username and password you registered with.

If you have forgotten your username or your password, you can follow the links to reset your login information.

As soon as we have been able to secure a date and time for the membership meeting and strike vote, we will send out another bulletin.
