The 25th Annual Labour Community Christmas Dinner Needs your Help

To: All MoveUP Members
Every year this community dinner serves thousands of turkey dinners to residents in need in both the Vancouver and Surrey areas.
This year’s locations are:
December 23 – Kwantlen Park Secondary School – 10441 132 Street, Surrey
December 24 – Maritime Labour Centre – 1880 Triumph Street, Vancouver
Besides dinner, families will go home with a food hamper, clothes and children’s toys.
This would not be possible without the help of union members and volunteers who help set up, prepare and serve this holiday feast.
This year the BC Federation of Labour is looking for volunteers as well as donations.
Donated items in need include:
- Unwrapped toys for children and/or teenagers
- Non-perishable foods
- Gift cards and passes
- New and gently-used clothes (washed) for adults and/or children
- Jackets, hats, socks and/or gloves
Volunteer opportunities include:
Vancouver
- December 20 unloading trucks with food and toys starting at 10:00 a.m.
- December 21 filling hampers, setting up the hall and sorting clothing starting at 10:00 a.m.
- December 22 filling hampers, sorting toys and clothes starting at 10:00 a.m.
- December 23 load the moving truck at 9:00 a.m.
- December 24 volunteer at the dinner starting at 4:00 p.m.
Surrey
- December 23 set up for dinner at noon
- December 23 volunteer at the dinner starting at 4:00 p.m.
