Bargaining
Tentative Agreement Reached with Lu’Ma Native Housing Society
January 16, 2026
To: All MoveUP Members at Lu’Ma Native Housing Society
Your bargaining committee is pleased to report that a tentative agreement has been reached between the Union and Lu’Ma following an extensive round of collective bargaining. You can view the tentative agreement here.
Throughout this round, the parties undertook a significant review of the entire collective agreement, negotiating extensive changes to ensure the agreement reflects the evolving nature of the work, supports members across all classifications, and strengthens rights, protections, and working conditions.
This process included responding to and addressing over 80 employer proposals, while also advancing union proposals across all major articles. As a result, the tentative agreement contains significant improvements to non-monetary items, strengthening workplace protections and clarifying important language that governs day-to-day working conditions.
The Parties spent considerable time bargaining non-monetary provisions, which do not involve direct financial compensation but are critical to members’ rights, health and safety, and fairness in the workplace. The bargaining committee is pleased to report that substantial progress and meaningful gains were achieved in these areas, forming a strong foundation for the overall agreement.
Highlights of the tentative agreement include:
- Significant improvements to non-monetary language, including enhancements to health and safety provisions, grievance process, and job postings and selection processes
- Paid 15-minute breaks for members working at supportive housing sites
- Increases to vacation entitlement
- Expanded leave language
- Increased RRSP rates
Wage Improvements:
- Year 1: 3% retroactive wage increase for all classifications, effective January 1, 2025
- Year 2: 3% increase; rate adjustments for Category 1 workers, effective January 1, 2026
- Year 3: 3% increase, effective January 1, 2027
The bargaining committee believes this tentative agreement represents meaningful progress and reflects the important work performed by members at Lu’Ma, with gains that extend beyond wages to improve overall working conditions.
Further details, including information about the ratification process and opportunities to review the full tentative agreement, will be shared shortly.
We would like to sincerely thank members for their patience, solidarity, and continued support throughout this bargaining process. Your engagement and unity were critical in achieving this outcome.
