Seaspan ULC – Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee – Worker Representative

To: All MoveUP members at Seaspan ULC

MoveUP is looking for a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee representative and an alternate to represent the members at Seaspan ULC. The position is a two-year term and meets monthly to discuss health and safety issues and concerns at Seaspan ULC. This is a joint committee with members being appointed from all the various unions.

The committee follows the Terms of Reference and JOHSC worker representatives are expected to:

  • Attend meetings regularly and come prepared
  • Review and contribute to agenda items, including incident trends, hazards, inspections, audits, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Bring forward safety concerns and recommendations from the workforce
  • Participate in workplace inspections and safety initiatives as needed
  • Support follow-up and communication of JOHSC outcomes back to the workforce
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and privacy of sensitive information discussed in meetings
  • Help ensure actions and recommendations are tracked and completed
