Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre –Tentative Agreement Reached

To: All MoveUP Members at Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre Society


We are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative collective agreement with your employer. The tentative agreement includes:
3-year agreement retroactive to May 1, 2024, and expiring April 30, 2027.

Compensation:

• 3.5% wage increase retroactive from May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025
• BC living wage as minimum base salary as of May 1, 2025, with wage increases ranging from 8.4% to 36.2%
• Bands U2 and U3 eliminated
• 3.5% wage increase between each step progression (step 1-2, and step 2-3)
• Federal Cost of Living Adjustment (2.5%) wage increase for blue-circled employees and any employees who are transitioning out of the highest step (step 3) of their position for 2025-2026
• Federal Cost of Living Adjustment (TBD) wage increases for blue-circled and any employees who are transitioning out of the highest step (step 3) of their position for 2026-2027

Other Improvements:

• Reduction of the Sunset Clause from 14 months to 12 months
• Increased overtime meal provisions
• Increased Gender Affirmation Leave from 4 days to 12 paid days
• 5 paid days per year for First Responder Leave
• Introduction of new Registered Retirement Savings Plan
• 5 paid Educational Leave days per year for members on the H&S Committee
• Increased Living Expenses during business-related travel
• Option to automatically transition to higher level position or remain in same level for positions with multiple levels.
• Defined expense allowance for when meeting with survivors
• Improved language regarding mileage and parking during business-related travel
• Defined notice of displacement or layoff to members and increased severance
• Improved and updated language regarding performance evaluations
• Improved and updated language regarding probationary employees
• Improved language regarding the Wellness Hour
• Option to bank or have standby hours paid out for Hospital Accompaniment members

The parties agree to unanimously recommend acceptance of this Memorandum of Agreement to their respective principals.
We will be hosting two separate virtual sessions to review the tentative agreement with you before the in-person vote. Links to both meetings will be sent to you under a separate email.
The ratification vote will take place after the virtual sessions, and you must attend in person, to vote. The meeting and voting details are as follows:

IN-PERSON VOTING:
DATE: Wednesday, June 4, 2025
TIME: 2:00pm – 4:00pm
LOCATION: Salal – Group Room (235-1101 Seymour Street, Vancouver BC)
