Reflecting on 2025 and what’s to expect in 2026

January 29, 2026

To: All MoveUP Members at FortisBC Energy Inc and FortisBC Inc

To our members at FortisBC,

We hope that you’ve had a good start to 2026!

Here at our union office, we’re ready for a busy 2026 where we will continue to work through many ongoing policy issues affecting our FortisBC members. These include vacation proration, vacation entitlements, pension calculations when on temporary assignment, improper use of part time employees, and call out provisions.

We thought it was important to look back on our shared accomplishments from 2025 so you have an idea on how your union is working for you.

2025 at a glance

Throughout 2025, your job stewards worked tirelessly to address injustices and incorrect applications of your collective agreement.

Some examples of their hard work included members overtime entitlements they were owed, correcting salaries for temporary promotions, and ensuring the process for job selections and vacation scheduling were followed. Most recently, they corrected the coverage denial of lifestyle drugs under your flex benefits.

MoveUP’s job evaluation appeals officer, and their committee, completed 47 job evaluations; four of these resulted in pay increases.

The jurisdiction committee identified several roles we feel should be MoveUP roles and are continuing to meet with your employer regularly to address each of these roles one by one.

MoveUP’s Workers’ Compensation Board (aka WorkSafeBC / WCB) appeals officer has been tirelessly working through six WCB appeals for our FortisBC members.

Additionally, in 2025, MoveUP participated in 19 workplace accommodations for our members.

We would also like to acknowledge the job action committee and all of you for your solidarity with the members of IBEW during their labour dispute. This sent a clear message to your employer, and to the wider labour movement, that MoveUP members have the backs of workers and that we stand united as union members.

We look forward to continuing to support our FortisBC members in 2026 and many more success stories to come.

In solidarity,
