June 1, 2023
To Members living in the Vancouver-Mount Pleasant provincial riding
From now and up to the final voting day on June 24, residents in Vancouver-Mount Pleasant will have the opportunity to have their voices heard and send another progressive voice to the BC Legislature.
MoveUP is proud to endorse Joan Phillip, the BC NDP candidate, in the upcoming Vancouver-Mount Pleasant by-election. Joan is a highly respected Indigenous rights leader and activist fighting for justice, human rights and the environment. She is presently the Penticton Indian Band’s lands manager and former elected councillor. Her father was a member of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, and she spent part of her childhood in the Downtown Eastside and has worked with several organizations there including the former Vancouver Indian Centre and an alternate school at First United Church.
Joan is married to Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, the long-serving President of the BC Union of Indian Chiefs.
When advanced polls are open from June 16 to 21, and on general voting day on June 24, we hope we can count on your support for Joan Phillip.
