MoveUP Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節) with Mooncakes-October 6, 2025

To: All MoveUP Job Stewards, Executive Councillors & Executive Board Members in the Lower Mainland
For over 3,000 years, many countries in Asia have celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival which honours the harvest moon. It happens on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Lunar Calendar when the moon is at its fullest and brightest.
This year, the Festival falls on Monday, October 6, 2025.
During the Festival, families reunite to enjoy a special meal together, admire and appreciate the full moon, enjoy mooncakes, and carry bright lanterns outside as path to prosperity and good fortune.
Sharing of mooncakes symbolizes completeness and togetherness and the Human Rights & Multicultural Committee is excited to bring back mooncakes to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. These round pastries are filled with lotus seed paste and are sweet and delicate.
If you are a job steward, councillor, or executive board member who is interested in participating by helping in the distribution of mooncakes at your worksite we want to hear from you. Please fill out this SURVEY and provide estimate of how many mooncakes you will need. Each mooncake is individual-sized. We will contact you in advance to let you know if we can meet your request.
Deadline to express interest is Friday, August 22, 2025 at noon (12 p.m.). Delivery / pick ups should be in the weeks of September 22 to October 3.
We will have the more information about mooncake delivery / pick ups to those that register very soon.
