Men’s Mental Health
Why Men’s Mental Health Matters
- 1 in 8 men experience a mental health condition such as depression or anxiety during their lifetime.
- Men are less likely to seek help due to stigma, cultural expectations, and lack of awareness.
- Suicide rates are significantly higher among men – globally, men are nearly 4x more likely to die by suicide than women.
Common Signs to Watch For
- Irritability, anger, or mood swings
- Withdrawal from friends and family
- Changes in sleep or appetite
- Fatigue or lack of motivation
- Engaging in risky behavior or substance use
What You Can Do
- Talk openly: Break the silence. A simple “How are you really doing?” can go a long way.
- Listen without judgment: Let others express themselves without trying to fix everything.
- Check in on friends: Especially those who may be going through tough times.
- Seek help early: Therapy, counseling, or talking to a trusted person can make a big difference.
This June, headsupguys is celebrating 10 years of saving lives!
To mark this milestone, they are launching “Step Up For Him”, a men’s mental health campaign taking place from June 1–15, 2025 to coincide with Men’s Health Month.
Step Up For Him. invites people to take meaningful action in support of the men in our lives — our brothers, partners, fathers, sons, uncles, nephews, friends, colleagues — who often struggle with mental health challenges in silence.
The idea is simple: between June 1–15, show how you “step up” for the men in your life. This could mean inviting him on a walk, run, hike, or bike ride — or maybe something creative that fits your style. Getting active is not only good for our physical health, it’s also great for our mental health.
Whatever you choose, your action becomes a statement:
“You’re not alone. I’m stepping up for you.”
