Bulletin
ICBC – Voluntary Location Switch
July 11, 2019
To: All Claims Specialists
On February 14, 2019 the Union and the Corporation signed the Letter of Understanding re: Changes to Claims Resulting from the Rate Affordability Action Plan. Item number 4 in that LOU addressed a Voluntary Location Switch for employees who were at that time Claims Examiners. This email bulletin is for your attention in particular, and to a lesser extent, for the attention of the current Claims Specialists who were not at that time Claims Examiners.
Item #4 is reproduced here below for reference. The entire LOU can be found here.
Re: Injury Services: Voluntary Location Switch
- ICBC will coordinate and administer a one-time voluntary location switch for September
1, 2019 for employees working as Claims Specialists as of that date and who were
reclassified from Claims Examiners (5612) to Claims Specialists (5612) pursuant to this
Agreement.
- Article 7.07 (e) shall apply, except that any voluntary location switches pursuant
to this Agreement shall not count as the employees’ one-time opportunity
prescribed by 7.07 (e) vi).
Prior to signing this LOU, we heard from the previous Claims Examiners that they wanted the opportunity to move to offices that had, up until that point, not been available for their work group. The result of this concern was the agreement noted above.
What you need to do today
ICBC is going to start having conversations with staff about how this process of office swaps will work. For those of you who are away from the workplace right now or over the summer, we want you to be aware that this process is starting and be sure you don’t miss any communication from your employer. We suggest you check-in with your manager to be sure they have up to date contact info for you (phone and email) if you are going to be away from work over the next couple of months. We don’t want anyone to miss out on this opportunity. All of the information on how this Voluntary Location Switch will be administered will come from ICBC directly.
If you have any questions on this aspect of the LOU, please email us at RAAP@moveuptogether.ca .
In solidarity,
Annette Toth, Vice-President
