ICBC – Vehicle Settlement Representative Update
November 21, 2024
To: All MoveUP members at ICBC
Today, ICBC delivered letters to all Vehicle Settlement Representatives that provide the details regarding the elimination of this job.
Since the Corporation provided notice to MoveUP of its intent to eliminate this job, the Parties have been in regular communication to discuss alternatives and develop an adjustment plan to address the concerns of our union and our members affected by this decision. After consultation with VSR’s and considerable negotiation with ICBC, we have reached an Adjustment Plan. This represents a compromise of interests of the Parties but provides for superior entitlements than would have been available had we elected to adhere strictly to the terms of the Collective Agreement.
This adjustment plan has several key features we wish to highlight:
1. All VSR’s have the opportunity to maintain employment with ICBC by electing placement to the Customer Service Adjuster (CSA) job.
2. In the alternative, all VSR’s have the option to elect to receive severance and cease employment with ICBC.
3. ICBC will provide training to all VSR’s who elect placement to the Customer Service Adjuster job.
4. 2025 vacation selection for those placed into the CSA job will be provided and seniority will be honoured.
5. 2025 Time Off selection for those placed into the CSA job will be provided when these bids occur.
6. Headquarters will be maintained for VSR’s electing placement to the CSA role.
7. Should ICBC choose to offer the Estimator Trainee Program in the future, consideration for acceptance into the program will be given to former VSR’s.
We understand that these are stressful and difficult times for VSR’s and we will continue to work with ICBC and all affected members during the election period and after. We intend to hold a further ZOOM meeting with all VSR’s to discuss the adjustment plan and address concerns next week. Please watch for this invite in the coming days.
We are also aware that this news may raise questions and concerns from other ICBC members. We have flagged concerns about workload within the material damage division because of this job elimination and will continue to work on this with the Corporation through workload committees as outlined in Letter of Understanding #18. Your bargaining committee will also be making workload and job security some of its priorities in the upcoming round of collective bargaining negotiations.
Please be aware that the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) is available to you should you require additional support and you are entitled to mental health services through your extended benefits plan.
In solidarity,
Trevor Hansen, Senior Union Representative
Dimitri Ossinsky, Vice President, ICBC
